I was asked this a few weeks ago, and can understand and relate to the question. Especially, when Shoemoney discussed it a few times in the past, and so does Darren at ProBlogger. Money blogs are one of the most saturated blog niches out there. Especially since you’re catering to people that won’t click on affiliate links, etc and are generally somewhat knowledgeable about the area of Internet marketing.
Now, to fully understand my goals for the site, my plan is to NOT make money with this blog. My money generators are other sites not related to internet marketing directly. The reason why I created this site was to form some kind of online presence in affiliate marketing. I’m not sure what your present situation is, but I’m a individual that does web programming for a living, and I’m starting to make the push into marketing, since it really interests me. I have programming friends and associates, we have lunch and brainstorm each others problems or current challenges, but when it comes to marketing, I have absolutely no one to ‘have lunch’ with. I find this odd, but I do believe there are different types of individuals out there.. and marketers / entrepreneurs (which also happen to be programmers) are very hard to find. I thought by starting this blog and possibly bouncing ideas off of a few people (contacts met here or from digital point), that we could all benefit in the end.
The other reason why I wanted to do this, is because I’m a heavy believer of Affirmative Thinking, and by focusing positive / productive energy on your goals, they will happen. I figured this blog would help to maintain a creative thought process and to push to me to reach my goals.
Speaking of which, I want to clarify a few things about me. I do NOT want to come off as a successful marketer. I’m very much a noob, in the field. I’ve been working in this arena for just over a year. I’ve been seeing a steady climb in revenue, but I’m not a player by any means.. not yet.
